Meanwhile, former police officer Martyn Underhill claimed his phone may have been hacked by the News of the World during the investigation into Sarah Payne's murder.
Piers Morgan Denies Phone-Hacking Allegations Amid Controversy Over Old BBC Interview
- Wednesday, 27 July 2011
Piers Morgan, former editor of the Daily Mirror, has denied phone-hacking allegations despite admitting that third parties may have done so. He made comments on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs in 2009 that suggested he knew of and condoned illegal reporting methods, including "raking through bins" and tapping phones. Morgan claims his statements were taken out of context and that he never engaged in or sanctioned phone-hacking himself.
