Boris Johnson’s resignation speech on July 7, 2022, came after a wave of resignations from government ministers and growing pressure from within his own Conservative Party. The speech marked the end of his tumultuous tenure as Prime Minister, which was marred by multiple scandals, including the "Partygate" scandal, which involved gatherings at Downing Street during COVID-19 lockdowns, and his handling of the national response to the pandemic and other crises.
