Labour Suspends MP Dan Norris After Arrest following allegations of rape and child sexual offences
- Saturday, 05 April 2025
The Labour Party has suspended MP Dan Norris following notification of his arrest, and has also withdrawn the party whip, effectively removing his status as a Labour representative in the House of Commons. A party spokesperson confirmed the suspension but declined to provide further comment due to the ongoing police investigation.
According to reports, the arrest is related to allegations of rape and child sexual offences, following a police search of Norris’s residence. Norris, who defeated Jacob Rees-Mogg in the last General Election, was taken into custody, and items were seized from the property. Most of the alleged offences are said to have occurred nearly two decades ago, with one recent accusation of rape also reported.
