Sir Keir Starmer has faced questions about his definition of a woman since becoming Labour leader. Initially, he backed gender self-ID and committed to updating the Gender Recognition Act. He wrote on social media that "Trans rights are human rights" and recorded a video message confirming his support for gender self-ID. However, during a phone-in on LBC, Starmer struggled to answer whether "a woman can have a penis", repeatedly refusing to discuss it, saying it wouldn't help anyone in the long run.
