Trump Gives Green Light to UK's £9bn Chagos Islands Handover to Mauritius

Donald Trump has approved the UK's plan to "surrender" the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, paving the way for a £9 billion deal. The islands are home to the Diego Garcia airbase used by the US, and senior Republicans had questioned the decision. However, after Sir Keir Starmer met with Trump at the White House, the President recognized the strength of the deal, indicating that all talks will now be between the UK and Mauritius governments to finalize the handover.
