King Charles Plants Tree, Jokes About His Health in Rome
- Thursday, 10 April 2025
King Charles made a wry joke about his health while planting a tree in Rome on the final day of his state visit to Italy. He planted the tree with scientists and waved his shovel in the air, then joked that he hoped to live long enough to see some growth from the tree. When shoveling soil over the tree, he quipped "it's not manure is it?" After completing the task, he unveiled a plaque and told the crowd that the tree needed water. He spent time chatting with embassy staff and their families, also making light of his potential absence saying "Oh dear is there anybody left in the office?"
