Sir Alister Jack, a former Conservative cabinet minister, is expected to be awarded a seat in the House of Lords after admitting to placing three bets on the 2024 general election date. He previously served as Scottish Secretary and received a knighthood from Rishi Sunak in July 2024 but was not given a peerage at that time.
