EDL Protest Turns Violent in East London: Clashes Erupt Despite Ban on Marches

Scuffles broke out at an EDL (English Defence League) protest in east London despite a ban on marches. Police clashed with activists who threw missiles and 16 people were arrested for various offenses, including assaulting a police officer. The EDL founder, Stephen Lennon, attended the protest, which had around 1,000 supporters, and was later led to Tower Bridge by police to disperse.
