Donald Trump openly clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, accusing him of not making enough concessions to Russia and for his lack of appreciation towards U.S. support during a war that began in February when Russian forces invaded Ukraine. The tense exchange was part of an attempt by Trump to force Kyiv into peace talks with Moscow under the terms of a proposed minerals agreement, which Zelensky initially resisted as he insisted on no compromises towards Russia's aggression and demands from Nato allies for military aid. The confrontation between both leaders escalated when Trump accused Zelensky in his absence of gratitude amidst their fractured relations since Ukraine was first allegedly obstructing peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This culminated into an abrupt ending to the meeting, and Zelensky left early from a White House appearance that had started out as a prelude for him signing on behalf of Ukraine in minerals deal negotiations which were supposed

US President Donald Trump has called Volodymyr Zelenskyy a dictator and repeated false claims that Ukraine started the war.

In a lengthy post shared on Truth Social and X Trump said Zelenskyy had refused to hold elections in Ukraine and accused him of being a "dictator without elections".

The US president went on to say: "Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a country left."

He also touted his administration's recent negotiations with Vladimir Putin saying: "We are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit only 'TRUMP', and the Trump Administration, can do."
