Parking Wars: The Empire Strikes Fine

Local councils and parking enforcement go together like traffic wardens and bad attitudes. One minute, you're pulling into a space outside your favorite café, and the next, a mysterious figure in a high-vis vest materializes out of thin air, slapping a ticket on your windshield with the smug precision of a ninja. Meanwhile, the council insists that the 17 confusing signs, contradictory road markings, and the fact that the pay-and-display machine only takes ancient Roman coins are all part of their "streamlined" parking system. And if you dare to challenge a fine? Congratulations! You’ve just entered a bureaucratic labyrinth so complex that even a seasoned lawyer would rather pay the £60 and move on with their life.

Woman Fined £100 for Buying Wrong Parking Ticket Due to Welsh Language Barrier

A woman, Claire Hannah, was fined £100 by a parking firm for buying an incorrect ticket at a car park in Betws-y-Coed, north Wales. She claims the ticket machine was only in Welsh and she couldn't change the language settings, so she bought a ticket and displayed it on her windscreen. Despite this, she received a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) from the firm 10 days later, which charged her £100 for buying the wrong ticket.

Bracknell Forest Council has announced new parking restrictions in seven areas, including Wooden Hill, Lily Hill Road, Grant Road, New Road, Meadow Way, Nuneaton and Lych Gate Close. The measures were approved by Cabinet member Guy Gillbe, with options for councillors to call in the decision until April 28.

Scammers Pose as Parking Attendants in New £1,300 Fraud

Fraudsters have been targeting motorists at car parks in Leicestershire by posing as parking attendants. Victims are guided to specific machines and asked to insert their bank cards and verbally "register" their PINs, allowing the fraudsters to access the victims' money. Three cases were reported in the past six weeks, with victims being elderly and vulnerable. The police urge people to be cautious and not enter their cards into the machine if unsure about the attendant's identity or if they are asked to verify their PIN.
