The Fine Art of Political Nonsense

Politicians talking about art is like a cat reviewing jazz: confused, unimpressed, but acting like they get it. They’ll praise a painting they just Googled, quote Shakespeare wrong, and claim budget cuts somehow “support the arts.” And when they commission statues of themselves? They always end up looking like melted candles with a superiority complex.

£3m Revamp for Bradford Arts Centre: African Caribbean Achievement Project Set for Cultural Boost

The African Caribbean Achievement Project (ACAP) has been awarded £3m to transform its building into an arts and culture centre. The grant, partly funded by Bradford Council, will provide space for music, dance, visual arts, and drama. ACAP hopes the revamped facility will boost footfall and "put our culture on the map". Councillor Sarah Ferriby and Dan Bates from Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture praised the funding, saying it will have huge benefits for current users and attract new visitors.

Trump Unveils Another Self-Portrait at White House: This Time, Next to Clinton's Portrait

President Donald Trump has hung another self-portrait in the White House, this time next to Hillary Clinton’s picture from her time as first lady, just outside the East Wing where First Lady Melania Trump has her offices. The painting is a close-up of Trump's face with the American flag imposed over his steely glare. Unlike the previous self-portrait, this one did not displace any existing painting, instead being placed between portraits of Clinton and Laura Bush.

Vaughn Visits White House: Hollywood Star Pictured with President Trump in Oval Office

Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn was pictured with President Trump in the Oval Office, sparking division among fans who are disappointed by his association with the Republican president. Despite not publicly supporting Trump, Vaughn has been spotted at several Trump events and his visit to the White House on Good Friday prompted criticism from some viewers who used to be fans of the actor. However, others welcomed his presence in the White House, viewing it as a sign that he is "on the winning team" among other Hollywood actors who have defected from their liberal peers and support Trump's MAGA movement.

Chancellor Axes British Art History in Favor of Covid Lockdown Masterpieces

Rachel Reeves removed 31 artworks from No 11, replacing portraits of men such as Isaac Newton, William Pitt, and Henry Pelham with abstract paintings depicting "Covid anxiety" and social distancing. The Chancellor's action was criticized for being "ashamed to embrace British history and tradition". The removals include depictions of former prime ministers Benjamin Disraeli, King James I and II, which were replaced by art commemorating the Covid lockdowns.
