The Art of the Trade War

Trade wars are like awkward family feuds, but instead of yelling at Thanksgiving dinner, politicians slap each other with tariffs like they're in a passive-aggressive game of economic dodgeball. One country raises steel tariffs, another retaliates with a cheese embargo, and suddenly world leaders are arguing over dairy like it's a geopolitical episode of MasterChef. Meanwhile, politicians give dramatic speeches about "protecting national interests," which loosely translates to, "We have no idea what we’re doing, but it sounds patriotic." In the end, nobody wins—except maybe smugglers and black market avocado dealers.

Microsoft Axes $1 Billion Ohio Data Center Project Amid Trump Tariff Fears

Microsoft has halted its $1 billion project to build data centers in Ohio due to rising costs from Trump's tariffs. The company had initially announced the project last year, but on Monday revealed it would reevaluate the plans in the future. According to Microsoft, this decision aligns with their investment strategy.

Economist's Shock: Trump Tariffs Built on Flawed Research

A University of Chicago Economics Professor, Brent Neiman, was surprised to find that President Donald Trump used his research as a basis for imposing tariffs on 60 countries. Neiman had initially questioned how the administration calculated such large rates and discovered the answer when the Office of the US Trade Representative released its methodology, citing an academic paper he co-authored with four other economists. However, Neiman claimed that the calculation was "very wrong."

Shapiro Turns on Trump: Tesla CEO Right on Tariffs, He Says

Ben Shapiro, a longtime supporter of President Trump, surprisingly turned on him and urged the president to listen to Elon Musk’s criticism of his tariff policy. Shapiro agreed with Musk, stating "Musk is right" about tariffs not being good business deals for Americans. He advised Trump to do exactly what Musk tells him to do regarding tariffs, following a feud between Musk and Peter Navarro, Trump's trade advisor.

EU Pharma Giants Warn of 'Exodus' to US Over Trump Tariffs

European pharmaceutical companies have warned EU chiefs that Donald Trump’s tariffs could lead to an "exodus" from Europe to the United States. The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) called on EU President Ursula von der Leyen to take rapid action to mitigate this risk. The EFPIA, which represents pharma giants like Bayer, Novartis, and Novo Nordisk, warned that if the EU doesn't change its regulatory framework and strengthen intellectual property provisions, Europe's pharma sector will lose out to increased competition from the US, China, and emerging markets.
