Pride and Pronouns
The LGBTQ community encompassing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer individuals continues to be at the forefront of major cultural and political discussions around the world. While progress such as marriage equality and anti-discrimination laws has been achieved in many countries, recent years have seen a rise in political backlash, especially around transgender rights, healthcare access, and education policies. In the United States, the UK, and parts of Europe, debates over gender identity, participation in sports, and inclusive curricula have become highly charged issues. Pride events and advocacy efforts remain vital, both in celebrating hard-won rights and in pushing back against new waves of legislation and rhetoric aimed at curbing LGBTQ freedoms. Despite these challenges, the LGBTQ movement remains resilient, continuing to advocate for equality, visibility, and the right to live authentically and safely.

Labour ministers, including Sir Chris Bryant and Dame Angela Eagle, have been secretly discussing ways to defy the Supreme Court ruling that men who change gender are not legally women. The discussions took place on WhatsApp, where they expressed private fury over the ruling and planned to hold a meeting to "decide a way forwards" and "organise". Additionally, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch wrote to the Cabinet Secretary calling for an investigation into Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson’s statement that supported the protection of single-sex spaces based on biological sex.
