Motorist Wins Two-Year Fight Against 'Greedy' Parking Firm Over £3.20 Fine

  • Thursday, 24 April 2025

Angela Haley, 64, was fined £200 by Excel Parking for allegedly parking without payment in a Derby car park. However, Haley claimed that she followed the guidelines and paid over the phone after initially experiencing issues with the machine. Despite providing proof, including confirmation texts, phone calls to the company, and a bank statement showing the payment, Excel Parking denied her appeal. Haley continued to fight against the fine through the Independent Appeals Service (IAS) and eventually won, with the reason for the fine revealed as not paying within a five-minute window.
