Global shares slid as President Donald Trump suggested he would impose import taxes on "all countries" ahead of his planned tariffs announcement. The US stock market opened lower but held its ground, while markets in Asia and Europe fell significantly. The UK, EU, Canada, and others are preparing retaliatory measures. The S&P 500 index has fallen almost 10% since mid-February, with the Nasdaq down over 10%.
