Conflict between Russia and Ukraine

The Ukraine war refers to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. However, tensions between the two countries date back to 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and supported separatist movements in eastern Ukraine including Donetsk and Luhansk.

Donald Trump said Russia "made a mistake" with its ballistic missile strike on Ukraine's city of Sumy, which killed at least 34 people and injured over 100. The attack targeted a trolley bus, causing massive explosions and destruction. The US President described the war as "horrible", but did not directly blame Russia for the attack, despite his National Security Council earlier calling it a "clear and stark reminder" of why efforts to end the war are crucial.
