UK Defence Minister Luke Pollard said that agreeing a deal to end the war in Ukraine will involve "difficult diplomatic conversations" with allies, and warned that a temporary pause in fighting could give Russia time to regroup. He also emphasized the need for US security guarantees to deter Russian attacks. The UK and France are working on a plan to stop the fighting, which would then be discussed with the United States, while President Macron has floated the idea of a month-long truce between Russia and Ukraine, but Pollard said this is "not a plan we currently recognise".
