Young people in Wales have spoken out about being placed in dirty, dangerous, and unsuitable accommodation as children. They describe finding rotting food, bugs, and human waste in their homes, and experiencing violence and threats with "zombie knives." One 15-year-old girl had to use a McDonald's toilet for months because her own was broken, while another young woman witnessed someone being threatened with a knife in a hostel. The Children's Commissioner for Wales has called for an overhaul of housing and homelessness guidance to prioritize children's rights.
