Boris Johnson stuck on a zip line

  • Wednesday, 01 August 2012

In a memorable mishap on August 1, 2012, Boris Johnson got stuck mid-air on a zip line while celebrating Team GB’s Olympic success at Victoria Park during the London 2012 Olympics. Waving two Union Jack flags, he lost momentum and was left dangling above a crowd for several minutes, jokingly asking for a "rope or a ladder" while assuring onlookers it was a "wonderful view." Eventually, officials had to pull him to the end manually, turning the incident into one of his most famous public gaffes, which he later laughed off, saying it was "not his fault" the zip line had stopped.
