Politics is serious—until the pranksters show up!
Politicians getting pranked is always comedy gold. Picture a senator stepping up to a podium, only to find the mic replaced with a squeaky toy, or a mayor struggling to cut a "ribbon" that's actually a bungee cord. One governor once passionately agreed with a fake donor—only to realize it was a prankster with a voice changer. And who could forget the classic teleprompter swap, where a world leader unknowingly delivers a heartfelt speech about pineapple pizza? Politics may be serious, but every now and then, the universe ensures they don’t take themselves too seriously.
Liz Truss storms off stage after lettuce banner joke
- Wednesday, 14 August 2024
Liz Truss left the stage at an event to promote her own book after she was targeted by campaigners joking about the lettuce that outlasted her time in Downing Street.
The former prime minister was speaking in Suffolk on Tuesday in support of her memoir Ten Years to Save the West when the event was ambushed with a remote-controlled banner. Ms Truss, who lost her seat at the general election last month, was in office for just 49 days before a backlash to her mini-budget from the market and Tory MPs forced her resignation.
