15 Charged Over Election Betting Scandal Involving Former Conservative MP Craig Williams

Fifteen people, including former Conservative MP Craig Williams, have been charged by the Gambling Commission with betting offences related to bets placed on the timing of the 2024 general election. The investigation focused on individuals suspected of using confidential information about the proposed election date to gain an unfair advantage in betting markets. Those charged include various Conservative party officials and candidates, as well as Williams' partner Laura Saunders. All current members of staff who have been charged are being suspended with immediate effect.
