Politics vs. the Planet: Who’s Winning?
Politicians often talk about protecting the environment, but their actions don’t always match their words. While some push for real climate policies, others support industries that contribute to pollution and deforestation. They may attend climate summits and launch green initiatives, but real change depends on whether they prioritize sustainability over short-term economic gains. Public pressure plays a key role in holding them accountable and ensuring that environmental policies lead to meaningful action.
Bridge Design Threatens Drinking Water Supply of 85,000 Households in Wales
- Thursday, 03 April 2025
A £10m bridge replacement project in Denbighshire, Wales may pose a "high risk" to the drinking water supply of 85,000 households due to drilling needed for construction, according to Welsh Water. The design phase has been completed, but significant challenges emerged regarding the bridge's foundations above a freshwater aquifer and Welsh Water's abstraction facility. No design solution has been found to remove the risk, which insurers warn would likely not be covered by insurance if water is contaminated.
