Politics vs. the Planet: Who’s Winning?

Politicians often talk about protecting the environment, but their actions don’t always match their words. While some push for real climate policies, others support industries that contribute to pollution and deforestation. They may attend climate summits and launch green initiatives, but real change depends on whether they prioritize sustainability over short-term economic gains. Public pressure plays a key role in holding them accountable and ensuring that environmental policies lead to meaningful action.

MP Calls for Major Overhaul of Daylight Saving Time Amid Energy Savings Debate

MP Alex Mayer has called for a "major overhaul" of daylight saving time, suggesting a return to the system used during World War II, known as "Churchill Time", which would save £485m in electricity bills and reduce carbon emissions by 400,000 tonnes. The clocks currently spring forward an hour on the last Sunday of March, marking the start of British Summer Time, but Mayer wants to revert back to a single time zone. This idea has been proposed before, including a three-year trial period that failed in 2012. Critics have raised concerns about the impact on road accidents, outdoor workers, and health and sleep patterns, while proponents argue it could reduce evening accidents and boost high streets.
