Orange is the new politics
Seeing politicians go to jail is like a plot twist in a bad TV drama: shocking, yet totally expected. One day they’re preaching integrity, the next, they’re in an orange jumpsuit, claiming it’s all a “political witch hunt.” Of course, they’ll serve less time than someone who stole a sandwich, but don’t worry, they’ll be back soon, rebranded and ready to run for office again. Jail time? Just another line on the résumé!
Jersey Considers Giving Vote Rights to All Prisoners

Jersey is considering changes to allow all prisoners to vote, including those serving sentences of four years or more. The proposal aims to create "social ties and a commitment to the common good." If approved, around 200 inmates at La Moye jail could gain the right to postal votes for their home constituency. Other proposed changes include automatically adding eligible children to the electoral register once they turn 16, and requiring all islanders' postal votes to be returned at least two working days before an election.

Marine Le Pen has been banned from running for public office for five years and fined €100,000 after being found guilty of embezzling EU funds. She was sentenced to four years in prison, with two suspended. The ruling means she will likely not be able to run in the 2027 presidential election unless her sentence is overturned before then. Le Pen plans to appeal against the verdict and has criticized the court's decision as a "political" one.

Four ringleaders were sentenced to between five years and nine months in jail, while a fifth defendant received a two-year and 10-month sentence.
