Politics: When the game never ends, and the score is anyone’s guess
Politicians in sports are a beautiful disaster, like watching a three-legged race where everyone insists on being in charge. You’ve got them showing up to a soccer match in loafers, arguing with the ref about “voter intent” when they miss a goal. One guy filibusters the game by holding the ball and giving a speech on infrastructure, while another forms a committee to investigate why he wasn’t passed to. Meanwhile, the coach is just trying to explain offside without triggering a parliamentary debate. It's less about winning the game and more about spinning the loss into a campaign ad: “I didn’t score, but I fought hard for every inch of that turf—just like I’ll fight for you.”
Trump Hosts Dinner Amid PGA-LIV Golf Merger Impasse
- Thursday, 03 April 2025

President Donald Trump remains confident that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf could come to an agreement, despite a stalemate threatening a merger between the two. The Saudi PIF laid out demands, including allowing LIV to operate and Yasir Al-Rumayyan becoming co-chair of PGA Tour Enterprises, which the PGA Tour found unacceptable due to its superior viewership and prestige. Trump is set to host a dinner at his Doral course in Miami, where he reaffirmed his interest in merging the two tours, stating "hopefully we're going to get the two tours to merge. You have the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour. And I think having them merge would be a great thing."
