Scottish Ministers to Receive £19k Pay Rise After 16-Year Freeze Eased

Scottish ministers will see an increase in salary after 16 years of a voluntary pay freeze, with junior ministers' salaries rising to £100,575 and cabinet secretaries' salaries increasing to £116,125. The First Minister has declined his own pay rise, which would have been nearly £155,000, keeping it at £135,605. Opposition parties criticized the increase as "reward for failure" given the Scottish government's performance in office.
