From Foreign Office to Frequent Flyer: Lammy's Costly Air Habit

  • Friday, 28 March 2025

Foreign Secretary David Lammy is under fire after it was revealed he spent a staggering £1.23 million on private jet travel over just three months, from October to December 2024. The bulk of the cost—over £1 million—went toward flights on an Airbus A321, the largest aircraft in the ministerial fleet. This extravagant travel spree marks a 34% increase from the previous quarter, bringing his average daily flight spending to £14,650. Lammy had already been criticized for spending nearly £1 million on flights shortly after the election, and these new figures have only intensified scrutiny over his use of taxpayer money for luxury air travel.
