According to Trump, China's President Xi Jinping called him amid the tariff war dispute, which Beijing denied was happening. When asked by Time magazine whether he would call Xi if the Chinese leader didn't initiate contact, Trump replied "no" and later confirmed that Xi had indeed called him, stating it wasn't a sign of weakness on his behalf.
