Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen announced he would travel to El Salvador to free 29-year-old Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident accused by the Trump administration of being a criminal. Van Hollen vowed to discuss Garcia's release with President Bukele and stated that if he didn't hear back by mid-week, he would travel to El Salvador to "check on his condition and discuss his release."

Wera Hobhouse, a British MP, was refused entry into Hong Kong and had her passport confiscated after flying halfway across the world to meet her newborn grandson. She arrived on Thursday with her husband, only to be detained by Chinese immigration officers who searched her luggage, grilled her about her political background, and eventually put her on a plane back to London five hours later without explanation.
