Prison staff at HMP Parc in Bridgend, Wales, reportedly engaged in violent behavior towards inmates, according to leaked messages. The messages show staff members laughing about and making fun of incidents involving self-harm and violence against prisoners. One message states that "prisoners need to be broken mentally and physically." The incident has led to an investigation by South Wales Police, which has resulted in four custody officers being arrested and later released without charge. G4S, the company that runs HMP Parc, has stated its commitment to rooting out wrongdoing and has taken disciplinary action against three of the arrested staff members.
